OUR MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION TEAM

ADAM PRIESTLEY - B.Sc, Cert TEFL 

PRINCIPAL

Adam has been working in business management for many years and has been involved in the English Language Teaching Industry for the last 10 years. Adam set up Leeds Language College Ltd in 2005 following teaching in fully established Colleges in Portugal and London where he actively learnt about the running of a college and International students' requirements. He has worked with both adult and young learners from a broad range of nationalities and with different learning needs. During his career in the UK and overseas, Adam has worked with international teams of teachers, educational managers and administrative staff. He enjoys reading, music and spending time with his family.

 

VERONICA OMENI - M.Sc, Advanced Dip.TESOL

VICE PRINCIPAL AND DIRECTOR OF STUDIES 

Veronica has been working in the English Language Teaching Industry for over two decades and has gained 17 years' managerial experience working with private, public and commercial institutions as well as universities and language schools. She has worked with both adult and young learners from a broad range of nationalities and with different learning needs. During her career in the UK and overseas, Veronica has worked with and managed international teams of teachers, educational managers and administrative staff. She has designed and cooperated on several successful EU training projects- training teachers, educators and business executives in intercultural awareness, curriculum design, methodology, IT and communication skills. She has travelled broadly and enjoys learning about different cultures and studying foreign languages. Veronica is also interested in information technology, the visual arts and literature.

 

 

 VIVIENNE (WIESLAWA) DAVIDSON 

ADMINISTRATION MANAGER

Vivienne is a qualified administrator and has many years’ experience working in the tourism and travel industry. She has travelled broadly and has worked in customer support, hospitality and administrative roles in the UK, Italy and Hawaii. She speaks several languages and enjoys working with international students. She enjoys travelling, skiing and social activities.

 

   

ROSER RAFOLS-HILARI - B.A.,

ADMINISTRATOR

Roser is a qualified administrator, has a qualification in Media and Popular Culture and is also a qualified and experienced catering specialist. She has travelled broadly and has many years’ experience working in the catering and hospitality industries. Roser studied in Leeds but has lived and worked in Spain and the UK. She enjoys cooking, travelling, reading, cinema and walking. She is multilingual and speaks 3 languages.

STEPHANIE MCINTOSH -  B.A., Cert. TEFL, Cert. ICT 

SENIOR TEACHER

Stephanie has gained experience working in commercial, financial and educational contexts. She has worked on projects delivering social media, on-line and podcasting solutions to schools and organizations and has been responsible for monitoring the on-line safety of young learners. She has worked with young people and dealt with clients and learners from many different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Stephanie has worked on voluntary placements to assist refugees with their communication skills and participated in peace-making and human-rights projects in the Middle-East. Stephanie enjoys reading, hiking and handicrafts. She has studied French and is interested in world literature.

 

 

ROSIE MCTIGUE - B.A., Cert. TESOL 

ENGLISH TEACHER 

Rosanna has over 6 years' experience in organising educational, cultural and language teaching activities for children and adults. Rosanna spent some time working with children in Vietnam and Cambodia, where she provided care and support to orphans and taught blind children. She has worked with several companies in the UK where her role has been to design communication and interactive activities for children through arts, crafts, music and theatre. She has also organised after-school workshops for children in the UK and in a children's museum. Rosanna has taught English at all levels to adult learners and currently teaches English for Academic Purposes and Cambridge Examination Groups. Rosanna is interested in travelling, meeting people and the arts.

 

 

CLARE VOKE – M.A., Cert TESOL

ENGLISH TEACHER 

Clare has been teaching English as a second/foreign language for over 5 years and has worked both in the UK and China. She has worked with both adult and young learners and also been involved in supporting asylum seekers and refugees, providing them with advice on their rights and opportunities for development and integration. Claire has experience of in-class teaching and also working in the busy admissions department of a major university in the UK, supporting undergraduate and post-gradute students. She has taught all levels and also Business English to VIPs and executive students. Claire is interested in languages and travelling and speaks conversational Chinese.

 

 

GLEN BROWN – B.A., Cert TEFL

ENGLISH TEACHER 

Glen has been teaching English as a Second language for over 6 years and has taught both adult learners and junior groups. He has worked on a broad number of community projects designed to help non-native speakers of English integrate into UK education and the employment market. To broaden his understanding of different learner needs Glen spent some time working in Asia. He has also worked as a tutor helping English children pass their GCSEs and A-level exams and assisted adult Masters and PhD students with their language skills. Glen is a proficient user of IT resources and frequently applies these in his classes. Glen enjoys travelling, recording music and is a writer. He speaks conversational Chinese.

 

 

SHAZA MAHMOOD – B.A., PgDip, Cert TEFL

ENGLISH TEACHER 

Shaza is educated to Postgraduate Degree level and is a holder of a professional teaching qualification - the Cambridge University CELTA- in teaching English as a Foreign Language. Shaza is also holds a Post-Graduate level qualification in Law. Shaza enjoys working with international students and has travelled widely in the U.S.A, Europe and Asia. She likes cooking and going to concerts. She also enjoys creative hobbies and is a qualified make-up artist. 

 

  

HELEN WHITEHEAD – B.A., PGCE, Cert TESOL

ENGLISH TEACHER 

Helen is a qualified teacher of Modern Foreign Languages. Helen graduated from the University of Wales, Bangor where she studied German and History. She has held roles such as a Special Educational Needs Assistant in a socio-economically deprived school, supported pupils with diverse needs and worked in a primary schools with lower ability pupils. Helen taught English as a foreign language to students in Germany for a number of years, after which she was made an ambassador for the British Council and still has contact with those schools. Her current post allows her to teach multilingual adults English, which she thoroughly enjoys. Helen is a fluent speaker of German.

 

 

DEBBIE HOWE – B.A., Cert TEFL

ENGLISH TEACHER 

Debra Howe has a BA (hons) in English Studies and a Cambridge CELTA.  She prefers to be called Debbie. Debbie has worked in schools and colleges and Leeds Asylum Seekers’ Support Network.  She really enjoys  teaching English to overseas students, as she can learn so much about their different cultures,  first-hand. Debbie lives just outside of  Leeds in a place called Lofthouse.  She is married to Bob and has a son called Charlie who has just started high school.  She also has a bad-tempered cat called Fizz.  In her spare time Debbie likes to do Pilates and Yoga at her local gym to keep fit.  She also likes reading, watching films and eating out.

 

 

JONATHAN HEMMING – B.A., Cert TEFL

ENGLISH TEACHERJ

Jonathan was born in Durham, but his adopted hometown is Sheffield.  His pursuit of the unknown has led him to live and work in 10 countries in Europe and South America.  His career in teaching English began in Winnipeg, Canada where he completed the TESL Certificate and taught English to new immigrants.  He then moved on to Colombia, teaching at a university in Tunja.  He is currently studying a MA Audiovisual Translation Studies (Spanish and English) at the University of Leeds.  When he's not studying or teaching, Jonathan is usually found on a mountainbike on some country trails, running or watching football. Favourite place: Torres del Paine National Park, Chile.  Favourite song: Hometown (Drum and Bass remix) by Adele, Favourite saying:  The road less travelled is often the most interesting.

 

 

 

YASIN HUSSAIN – B.Sc, PGCE, Cert TEFL #

ENGLISH TEACHER 

Yasin is a qualified teacher of Science and English as an additional language. He has prepared young and adult learners for SAT tests, GCSEs, A-levels and international examinations in both subjects. He has worked on projects which have been published in scientific journals and also has experience of working as a professional analytical scientist in the commercial, law enforcement and healthcare sectors. Yasin has taught all levels and is especially qualified to teach English for Special Purposes - such as helping scientists, CLIL or science teachers improve their English language skills. Yasin likes travelling and is interested in technology.
